Care Instructions
Tips & Tricks
Introduction
Remember that goalkeeper gloves are wear-and-tear products and will eventually show signs of use. Gloves naturally wear down faster with frequent use, so proper care is essential to keep them in the best possible condition. Due to the constant stress on the materials, a goalkeeper may need three or more pairs of gloves per season. Even the most durable latex will eventually show signs of wear.
We recommend always having at least two pairs of gloves: one pair for training (and for warm-ups on match days) and another dedicated pair for match days. Your training gloves can, for example, be an older pair that was previously used for games.
To maximize the lifespan of your gloves and maintain latex performance, you should clean them after every use. Regular washing helps preserve the quality of the latex palms and keeps them performing at their best.
High-quality gloves feature softer latex palms that provide superior grip and a better feel for the ball, though they may have a shorter lifespan.
However, the rate of wear varies from goalkeeper to goalkeeper. It depends on how often the gloves are used, how well they are maintained, the type of surface played on, and the individual’s technique.
To extend the life of your goalkeeper gloves and get the best out of them, make sure to follow the tips below - before, during, and after each use.
Before first use
✅ Before using new goalkeeper gloves for the first time, remove any protective film from the palms and rinse them with warm water to remove any residues from the manufacturing process.
This also activates the latex, ensuring your gloves provide optimal grip right from the start.
How to Wash Goalkeeper Gloves
✅ To extend the lifespan of your goalkeeper gloves, it is essential to clean them thoroughly after each use. The easiest way is to rinse the gloves in warm water (maximum 30 °C). It is recommended to clean each glove individually under running water, gently removing dirt and residues with your free hand or the soft side of a sponge. Be careful when squeezing out excess water-avoid applying too much pressure on the latex to prevent damage.
✅ If you use a glove cleaner, make sure it is thoroughly rinsed off, as leftover residue can cause damage. For heavily soiled gloves, a gentle but strong water stream, such as from a showerhead, can help remove stubborn dirt.

How to Dry Your Goalkeeper Gloves
✅ After washing, let your gloves dry at room temperature. You can hang them up or wrap them in a cloth to absorb excess moisture.
Avoid cleaning your gloves in a washing machine or drying them in a tumble dryer.
🚫 Never expose your gloves to direct sunlight, and do not dry them on a radiator, as this will dry out the latex, make it brittle, and significantly reduce grip.
Tips for Proper Storage of Your Goalkeeper Gloves
✅ Store your gloves at room temperature and keep them away from direct sunlight. Make sure the gloves are completely dry before storing them - only the latex may remain slightly damp to maintain its grip and “magic.” Moisture inside or on other parts can lead to mold and damage the material.
✅ Allow the gloves to dry thoroughly overnight before placing them in our glove bag. Be careful not to let them dry for too long, as the latex can become brittle and develop cracks.
⚠️ It is important that the palms do not touch each other while drying, as they may stick together and get damaged when pulled apart. Also, avoid contact between the palms and any silicone or rubber elements on the backhand to prevent unwanted reactions or cosmetic damage.

Match Day
✅ Goalkeeper gloves should be moistened before each use and kept slightly damp during training or a match to activate the latex for optimal grip and stickiness. Occasionally wet the palms with water to maintain both grip and the durability of the latex. Since latex is not designed for dry conditions, you’ll often see professionals spraying water or even spitting on their gloves to keep the latex moist and grippy.
⚠️ Always remember to clean your gloves thoroughly after each use.
Tips & Tricks
💡🌧️ In wet or muddy conditions, we recommend applying a small amount of Vaseline to your gloves and gently rubbing it in to enhance grip. This can be repeated as needed to improve hold.
Vaseline is especially effective in wet conditions but can also be used in normal weather to increase grip.
💡 In dry conditions, the use of grip sprays can also be recommended to make the latex stickier. However, caution is advised, as grip sprays may become slippery in wet conditions and not provide the desired effect. For rainy weather, there are special grip sprays available. We still recommend using Vaseline, as both latex and Vaseline are oil-based and work very well together.
⚠️ After using Vaseline or grip sprays, the gloves should be thoroughly cleaned.
